In case you haven't figured out how important it is to get rain checks at CVS for items that are out of stock.
- No Expiration Date
- Frequency In Repeat or Similar ECB Deal
- Double Plays or Able To Exceed The ECB Household Limits
Here is a great example of how taking an extra minute to get a rain check can in the end be more beneficial to you than the original ECB deal.
Last night two stores were out of the Venus Embrace so I wasn't able to use the new CVS coupons on them. So I got rain checks on them and made sure to mention that they were Extra Buck Items and that is why I was buying them then. Kill they with kindness explain how great of a deal this is and how you don't want to miss out on it due to low stock. Get however many you can use or whatever the limit is, your preference.
Then when you are at CVS again and that item is an ECB special may it be the same week different CVS or later on down the road (notice many items are repeat ECB deals) you use that rain check in conjunction with the current offer. Don't draw attention to the fact you will double dip. Just say I have this from this store during an ECB deal and point out what is wrote on your rain check. Since the stores have no control over printing ECBs what they will do is take the ECB amount off the price. See how it worked out for me tonight.
Venus Embrace $9.99 (Current ECB deal $6)
Venus Embrace Rain Check $9.99 with $6 ECB (last weeks ECB deal)
-$2.00 CVS Venus Embrace Coupon
-$2.00 MFC Venus Embrace Coupon
Total = -$.01 Received $6 ECB from current weeks deal.
This only works if they scan the time and override the price, not type it in as a taxable item. It most likely will not work with buy "X" amount get "Y" ECBs unless you still meet the $/$$ guidelines using the override price.
Clear as mud? So if you are buying the item for ECBs this is a good way to use those rain checks. If you are buying the item for the quantity or just the item and ECBs don't matter (Yeah Right!) then probably not the best way to use your rain check.
