I think the time has come...POTTY TRAINING 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 66
I need some suggestions. Julian is not quite 2 1/2 but really has been watching me and hubby and even flushes the toilet for us. So, about a week and a half ago I was changing his diaper and he farted so, I laughed at him and said eeeww, you stinkie butt and he just laughed harder and I look down and he was pushing to make himself fart again. I said push JuJU push!!!! and out comes the fart. I know...lol
Anyways, I practiced everytime when I changed his diaper to push until he peed and when that came out. I just acted all crazy jumped up and down and sang my silly song even Arianna came running around the corner to see what was going on. So, 2 days later I told him to stand by the potty and to hold his peepee and push. He peed but all over except the toilet. I so don't want to do this!!! So, any suggestions?
Go straight to underwear or pull ups? I have no clue!
I know deep down I should just get a timer and use underwear, huh?

Try Pullups first and make him feel like a "Big Boy". We had to try the sit down method with Ethan first and then standing up. Do you have a potty chair for him or one of the ones that just sits on the toilet seat that is for kids? Marissa is about the same age but I think she is a little afraid of the potty. I know if we could just make good times and see peed on the potty one time and we made a super big deal about it she'd catch on pretty quickly.

When I tried to sit him on the potty and he almost fell in he got scared, but I didn't have one of those toilet seats attachment. I'm trying to get a feel of what is going to work best. I need to purchase a cover over his full mattress. That should be for a waterproof one right? Then I don't know if I should spend some money on underwear or pull ups. I do have a small potty chair but he plays with it as a toy.

Well once you go to pullups you don't want to back track. You won't want to go back to diapers either and well tighty whites at first could be rather messy. I'd go with the pullups first at least til you get a feel of how things are gonna play out.

All my kids have always had a waterproof cover on their crib mattresses. I just take a clorox or mr. clean wipe to it when I change their bedding. Easy peasy.

By the way cute pics in your siggy! They are both adorable.

i got one of those potty seats that it can come apart and it will sit on the big potty as an attachment, thats kinda killing 2 birds with one stone, and theyre not that expensive.

we did pull ups first, i would have liked to try undies sooner but since we both work and shes at school i know they wouldnt do it. so now we still do pull ups and then undies when we are at home.

the pull ups werent working for us anymore, wed ask her if she had to go, shed say no, then she would go in her pull up and cry to be changed.

the good thing about undies is they are cheaper than pull ups lol we got a pack of 7 for $4.xx at wal mart.

We have one of those potty seats that sits on top of the regular toilet seat. It worked with our daughter. Eli (21 months)stood next to the potty today and kept trying to climb on like his sister does. So I took of his diaper and put him on it. I don't think he did anything, but who knows what it may lead to? He has been pulling at his diaper and trying to take it off lately. I thought maybe it was just that age or a boy thing????

Julian doesn't like it when diaper is full of pee. He'll come to me and say pee pee and wants me to take it off.

He takes the bowl out of the potty and will walk around and have toys in it.
